reduction frequently requires the application of relaxation therapies
aimed at easing specific disruptions in the muscles. These therapies are
sometimes sufficient in themselves, but may also be used to make adjustments
Chiropractors and massage therapists know the muscles, know which pains
are caused by what problems, and know what therapies work for each problem.
At Hands for Health Chiropractic here in Charlotte we use the following therapies as appropriate.
Stimulation: Electric Stimulation is used at Hands for Health
Chiropractic Center to help relieve pain, accelerate the healing process
and to help reduce stress. It is typically done over tissue that has been
damaged or in spasm. Electric stimulation is a vital tool in proper management
of soft tissue injuries.
Spinal Traction: Intersegmental spinal traction is an excellent
therapy for many types of disorders. At Hands for Health Chiropractic
Center, this form of therapy is customized to each individual with regards
to depth of treatment, area of treatment and time of treatment. Every
case is different and having a therapy that can be customized to the patient is a great advantage that Hands for Health Chiropractic
Center has. This very relaxing therapy is geared towards relaxing the
muscles surrounding the spine. By relaxing these muscles this therapy
is very successful at reducing pain and encouraging overall better health
for the muscles of the entire back.
The Intersegmental Spinal Traction table “massages” the muscles along
the spine at designated depths as the patient relaxes.
Myofascial Release: Myofascial Release is another soft
tissue management system done at Hands for Health Chiropractic
Center in Charlotte that is excellent at addressing adhesions that can occur in the
tissue in between muscles and organs. Fascia is a very thin,
lubricating tissue the encompasses all of our organs and tissues and is
responsible for allowing tissues to slide by on another as they work instead
of adhering to one another. When they adhere to one another scar tissue
can form and cause major problems and pain to any individual. Myofascial
Release is a very effective, pain free way to help release these adhesions
so that tissue can move freely and without incumberment.
Ice/Heat: Ice and Heat therapies work well with electric
stimulation or on their own. They are a great adjunct to chiropractic
care. Typically a therapy of ice is prescribed for patients with acute
injuries to help slow down any inflammation that may be occurring. Ice
is typically used during the first week of care. Heat therapies are used
as a continuation of care from ice and as an initial form of care in patients
with more chronic conditions. Heat has the opposite effects of ice. Both
have been proven as effective therapies in the acceleration of repair
to injured tissue.
Fascial Movement Taping (FMT): Fascial Movement Taping
(FMT) using Rocktape is a theraputic tool that helps your fascia work better
to support your skeletal structure and recovery. First used by Japanese
chiropractors, Fascial Movement Taping has been a great adjunct
to chiropractic care.
